Challenges & the goal

Gentlemen’s Barber Club had no digital presence beyond Instagram, which limited appointment bookings, visibility on Google, and overall credibility with new clients.

The project aimed to establish a professional website that reflected the barbershop’s vintage aesthetic, showcased haircut styles, simplified booking, and built trust through reviews and clear pricing.

My Approach

I began with client interviews, competitor analysis, and usability testing with five respondents. Key insights showed that users prioritized haircut examples, reviews, and pricing before booking, which guided the site’s structure and user flows.

For the visual direction, I leaned into a timeless, masculine identity with a deep forest green primary color, complemented by beige and brown accents. Typography combined classic serif headings with modern sans-serif body text for clarity. A custom logo of a minimalist gentleman (top hat, mustache, beard) captured the shop’s character and heritage.

UX decisions focused on a mobile-first design, with a prominent booking button, streamlined service presentation, and an accessible haircut gallery. To ensure performance and longevity, I developed the site with Astro, TailwindCSS, and GSAP, used Cloudinary for optimized media, and hosted it on Vercel.
